Natural stone elements are thoughtfully incorporated into the design, illuminating the room with a warm glow. The king-size bed, strategically positioned to capture the morning light, provides an elevated perspective from the 49th floor like a suspended island in a wooden river.

Luxurious Bathroom Design

The main bathroom, with its dual toilets, is a sanctuary of modern luxury. Divided into dry and wet areas, it houses a luxurious bathtub and a spacious shower area in the wet area, with wood-grain tiles echoing the overall theme.

Evelyn intended to keep the wall open right in front of the bathtub to install transparent glass so that the homeowner is not limited to space and also offers a breathtaking view while bathing elevating the daily ritual into a pleasurable experience.

In short, HDB will cover you the waterproofing membrane for 3 years, that’s why they won’t allow you to hack wall & floor tiles.

8. COVERING THE EXPOSED PIPES

If you’re the type that likes the look of a clean and sleek toilet and hates exposed pipes, that’s fine. We all want a sleek and clean looking toilet. But here is the clincher.

If there are problems in the plumbing, how can your plumber access your plumbing if the pipes are covered completely? That would mean demolishing whatever is covering it. And that would most likely disturb your neighbors, raise the attention of the property manager and if you’re not careful, you could end up destroying your main pipe line.

As much as possible, avoid covering your exposed pipes. They are exposed for a reason. If you really don’t like looking at it, don’t worry. There are many creative ways to hide your exposed pipes without covering them completely. You can have removable storage cabinets or if your style is industrial, you can just leave it as is.

9. HIRING SO CALLED CONTRACTORS AND DESIGNERS

You might have heard your friend tell you about this ‘professional’ who can make your renovation plan a reality without so much as costing you a fortune. You might have also read about ‘professionals’ who have done more damage than good when it comes to renovating an HDB house.

As much as possible, when looking for a designer or contractor to work on your renovation, hire the ones that have been approved and recognized by HDB. The reasoning for this is because they are familiar with how the unit is constructed and the rules of the property. Another reason for hiring them is because they have undergone training & have got many years of experience to do these all stuffs, that enable them to meet with the standards the property demands and give you the assurance that they know what they’re doing.

10. CHOOSING TRENDY DESIGNS AND STYLES

Like with most homeowners, you will be enchanted by the notion of having a toilet that follows the latest design trends like Pantone walls or the latest HCG toilet and so on. However, this might also be a very costly mistake on your part.

Living Room Design

The wide living space is achieved by combining one of the bedrooms with the living room. The effect of this widened spaced is visible right upon entrance and facilitates interaction between all users in the living room.
If space allows, a platform can not only be used as a space for storage, but also acts as a fine gesture to sensually demarcate a more private area from another. Allowing you to carve spaces out such as a lounge or a study area.
If you also have pets at home, cabinets with terracing steps can function both as a storage, and also play area for your pets to entertain themselves when you are away.

Bathroom Design

Now if the main colour scheme of the house is generally subtle, bathroom walls are one of the areas to be bold. In this project, we’ve chosen glossy fish-scale tiles with Japanese patchwork patterns to contrast with its environment.

As for yards, new HDB units generally do not come with windows. It is often a good idea to install for safety of children and preventing rain from getting in during thunderstorms.

Kitchen Design

When it comes to kitchen, functionality will be the most critical. Maximise storage if you a lot of cookwares, and maximise the number of drawers to easier access to stored items. If you’re looking for hobs with minimal maintenance, you may want to choose an induction hob over gas hob as its flat glass top is much easier to clean.

One of the quicker ways to make the existing space look larger would be to make use of light color paints . Try painting the ceilings in light colors to create an illusion of increased ceiling height.

When planning for your 2-Room BTO renovation, make your home seem more spacious by using a consistent color throughout the various walls. The illusion of a larger space is created because the eyes are allowed to travel throughout and around the house because the room is painted with lighter colors.

When contrasting or different colors are painted on the walls, the human eyes tend to pause whenever the color changes. This causes the size of the room to seem smaller because the edges are emphasised. Or in other ways, you notice the boundaries. Whereas the space appears to continue when the same color is consistently utilised throughout the house, reducing the boundaries.

Incorporating mirrors into your renovation plan could do wonders by making your room look larger. Simply find the focal point and place some mirrors that angle toward it; this provides an illusion of depth.

  • In the day, the usage of mirrors can help reflect sunlight and natural light, making the room look brighter.
  • During the night, the mirrors can also reflect artificial light into the house, making the room feel less dull.

If you’re looking to make your home feel even warmer and cosier, you can also try placing the mirrors near the windows to bounce outdoor light deep into the room.

Don’t want to include placement of standing mirrors that occupy space into your 2-Room BTO renovation plan? Then try placing mirrors on the walls or even table tops instead — it helps to give an open feel to your house.

5. Re-purpose Your Bomb Shelter

It’s a well-known secret that many of us simply use our bomb shelters as store rooms. Instead of doing that, why not make it part of your renovation plan and turn it into a space that you’ll actually love – while not breaking any rules of drilling or hacking.
