31 FERNVALE LANE

Weiken’s Project at 31 FERNVALE LANE, Singapore | Theme: MODERN LUXURY | Budget: $30,000 | Work Scope: Ceiling works, electrical works, painting works, carpentry works, mirror works.

“This project was guided by a simple brief: to incorporate ample storage within a stylish design. To achieve this, we streamlined all the storage cabinets along the TV wall, maintaining a clean and cohesive look. Marble and bronze mirror accents were then introduced to elevate the space with a touch of luxury. The ceiling design further enhances the ambiance by incorporating layered lighting. In the bedroom, we opted for darker tones to create a cozy atmosphere, using a rich chocolate brown laminate to complement the velvet terracotta bedhead.”

47 Tampines Lane

Weiken’s Project at 47 Tampines Lane, Singapore | Theme: MODERN LUXURY | Budget: $40,000 | Work Scope: Electrical, carpentry, false ceiling, painting, hacking, tiling
“A key challenge in this project was transforming the L-shaped kitchen—partially enclosed by a glass partition—into a fully open-concept space with an island. By opening up the kitchen, the dining and cooking areas seamlessly merged, creating a shared experience for family and friends at the heart of the home. Notably, strategically placed mirrors visually expanded the space, counteracting the narrow, vertical layout and making it feel significantly wider than a plain solid wall would have.”

“This modern luxury home embraces a neutral color palette, with soft tones of beige and taupe that create a serene and sophisticated atmosphere. The gold laminate lines seamlessly integrate with the natural beauty of marble grains of flooring and TV feature wall, creating a harmonious contrast. The walls are painted in soft, warm neutrals, while gold laminate trimmings around cabinetry add a luxurious yet subtle shine. The kitchen is sleek, with a dark contemporary cabinetry, de-marking the kitchen from other areas of the house. Quartz counter-top and backslash with gold grains, subtly embedded within the quartz, add an element of luxury and refinement without affecting the demarking of areas.

Overall, the home exudes a sense of quiet luxury, where the combination of neutral tones and gold laminate detailing creates an effortlessly elegant and timeless aesthetic.”

Curved ceiling details gently soften the overall feel, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. In the bedroom corridor, tinted glass wardrobe doors with brushed bronze handles visually expand the space. For the master bedroom, we added luxurious wallpaper to evoke the feel of a high-end hotel suite. Every detail was thoughtfully curated to maintain a consistent palette and a refined, cohesive look throughout the home.”

Tampines Lane

Weiken’s Project at Tampines Lane, Singapore | Theme: MODERN LUXURY | Budget: $50,000 | Work Scope: Carpentry, False ceiling, Texture painting, Electrical.

“In keeping with the existing flooring and wardrobe finishes of the unit, we envisioned a modern luxury colour and material palette for the homeowners. Using light, neutral colours, we kept the home feeling warm and welcoming, while injecting touches of luxury using textures like marble, mirrors and fluted panels. The homeowners also wanted the living area to be visually different from the foyer and dining area, hence a darker walnut laminate was selected, while still keeping luxury elements running throughout. As a finishing touch, a shimmery texture paint was selected to be applied on a wall that ran from the foyer all the way through to the living room. This turned out to be one of the focal points that elevated the design of the home, tying the entire modern luxury theme together.”

“The main design emphasis was to create a home which would make my homeowners feel comfortable whenever they come back focusing on a colour theme that is not too white-ish/pale-ish yet retaining the elements of Modern Luxury. With that being said we chose to work with a lot of earthy/neutral tones, incorporating mirrors into the carpentry as a form of addition to the modern feeling.

One of the key feature I would say is the kitchen. As the kitchen is slightly longer in size, we have decided to hack down half of the wall to construct a glass sliding door & glass bi-fold door in which it allows more light to be shed in from the living area. Not only that, it acts as a form of spacial addition as well. We have also constructed a full flat false ceiling in the living room & master bedroom which allowed us to allocate more down-lights to make sure that every single area will be well lit.”

“Given the large space of a 5 Bedroom HDB and convenient location in central Singapore, a decision was made to do a complete makeover of the client’s existing home of over 15 years. The main design direction was to exude an understated luxury, with an interesting requirement of minimising use of wooden textures. This resulted in a combination of pearlescent solids and marble tones to achieve the desired aesthetics.

The design anchor of the living room will certainly be a backlit stone veneer wall – which acts as a portrait painting when unlit, and almost a lantern of the space when lit up. Each of the rooms were then calibrated to fit the preference of each user, while maintaining colour coherence with rest of the unit. With smart home integrated in the living room, the home is also upgraded from a tech standpoint and further future proof the home for another decade or more.”

“To create their dream home, the homeowners were very open to making layout changes that would better suit their lifestyle. So I took that opportunity to create a room dedicated to the walk-in wardrobe, a full dressing table and display set-up, a bespoke study table & bookshelf. Coupled with timeless lighting, colour palette and material choices, the resultant home was luxurious yet still practical and comfortable.

The styling choices also played a part in the overall look of the home. While the number of items in a luxurious house should be kept to a minimum, those that were present should not be inconspicuous. Chandeliers, floor-to-ceiling curtains, accent pillows and wall-spanning paintings or portraits are great ways to give the luxury interior design an awe-inspiring element.”

“Via the use of monochromatic colours, this project creates a consistent, well defined theme throughout the entire unit. Dark themes are often associated with “small spaces” but this is actually misconceived. By dramatising strategically, bold anchor points can be created that visually connects spaces together.

For instance, an asymmetrical mirror at the end of a long hallway, lighting leading across walkways, and contrasting bathroom shower walls, are all design strategies to consider when owners are interested in darker than usual monochromatic themes.”
