54 Havelock Road
Actual Project in SCANDINAVIAN style at 54 Havelock Road, Singapore | Budget: $65,000 | Work Scope: Hacking, Tiling, Plumbing, Painting, Carpentry.
“We chose neutral and warm colours to form the colour palette, to make the home cosy and inviting. As the clients wanted a full stretch of storage cabinets from the entrance to the kitchen, we decided to use open shelves to break up the middle portion, so that the area still looks inviting instead of being visually heavy and clunky. We also continued the tile backsplash along the dry kitchen area, to visually connect the wet and dry kitchens, so that it looks consistent and connected, rather than being two separate spaces.
For the master bedroom, we used a different colour of paint to create visual interest at the wall behind the bed, which is a cost-effective and good way to spruce up the aesthetic of the room. It’s not always necessary to build up big carpentry feature walls, which may make the space feel smaller, which is counterintuitive to the original intention of keeping the two bedrooms open to enjoy a larger space.
What was particularly helpful to ensure a smooth renovation was that the clients were clear about what they want, so it was easy for me to understand the brief and deliver accordingly.”

“Modern Japandi design typically emphasizes clean lines, a neutral color palette, and a focus on natural materials such as wood and stone. The overall aesthetic aims to create a sense of calm, serenity, and balance in the living space. It draws inspiration from the minimalism of Japanese design, which focuses on decluttering and creating a sense of openness, and the warm, cozy elements of Scandinavian design, which often incorporates natural textures and soft, comfortable furnishings.
A minimalist approach for them by decluttering your space and keeping only essential items. Create clean lines and open spaces by removing unnecessary furniture and decorations. This design is all about finding a balance between minimalism, functionality, and natural elements.”

By using a contrast of black and white tones, you can achieve a striking and dramatic effect that showcases the architectural features of your space. To add some warmth and texture to your monochrome theme, you can use natural materials like wood, marble, or plants, or introduce some metallic accents or pops of color.
For a family with cats, you can opt for durable and scratch-resistant materials like laminate or vinyl for your flooring and furniture, and provide some cat-friendly accessories like scratching posts or toys. A limewash wall behind the television can be a stunning focal point that adds some character and depth to your living room.”

“The homeowner is a meticulous person who loves tidiness. Which is why a classic design emphasizing on comfort and ease of maintenance is adopted. The entire flooring has been replaced with anti-slip tiles. Similar tiles are adopted across the house to integrate the entire living space as one.
As the layout of the house is rather elongated, the house tends to be dimmer. Which is why the floor tiles and carpentry are of a lighter and gentle tone. A portion of the display cabinet is designed with a darker tone and paired with LED lighting to achieve the standout effect. The display cabinet incorporates the finer details like the colour pairing and grooves to enhance the entire outlook. Exuding a neat and comfortable vibe.”

“This 5-room BTO was transformed into a retreat away from the turmoil of the world. We have created an open-plan living space using strong natural textures such as wood and stone, painting the walls and ceilings in a dark, wood texture to create a retreat-within-the-retreat.
To balance out the boldness of the dark tones and heavy textures, we have added design curves to soften up the look, earth-toned furniture, warm lighting, floor tiles and a large tapestry woven from wool for that cozy touch!”
270 Toh Guan Road
Actual Project in CONTEMPORARY style at 270 Toh Guan Road, Singapore | Work Scope: Hacking, Tiling, Plumbing, Ceiling, Plastering, Carpentry, Painting, Doors, Windows.
“This project had a complete makeover from the previous home and that focuses on maintaining a basic colour palette of white, wood, and accents of gold. The intention was to create a clean, sophisticated, and create a clean canvass for me and the homeowners to effortlessly match their decors and furnishings. The white base helps to amplify textures such as marble grained tiles and form a timeless classy aesthetics while visually enlarging the common areas.
Within the master bedroom and common bedroom, bolder tones are used to reflect the personal preference of the homeowners. A contrasting palette of darker woods and velvet fabrics creates a distinct perimeter of a private space from the rest of the house.”

Actual Project in MODERN LUXURY style at 216A Compassvale Dr, Singapore | Budget: $60,000 | Work Inclusive: False Ceiling Installation, Tiling Works @ 2 Toilets & 1 Kitchen, & Carpentry Installation.
“The main design emphasis was to create a home which would make my homeowners feel comfortable whenever they come back focusing on a colour theme that is not too white-ish/pale-ish yet retaining the elements of Modern Luxury. With that being said we chose to work with a lot of earthy/neutral tones, incorporating mirrors into the carpentry as a form of addition to the modern feeling.
One of the key feature I would say is the kitchen. As the kitchen is slightly longer in size, we have decided to hack down half of the wall to construct a glass sliding door & glass bi-fold door in which it allows more light to be shed in from the living area. Not only that, it acts as a form of spacial addition as well. We have also constructed a full flat false ceiling in the living room & master bedroom which allowed us to allocate more down-lights to make sure that every single area will be well lit.”

Through the usage of cooler main colour tones, and balanced with warmer dark wood accents that extends to the kitchen tiles aim to create a timeless look suitable for the homeowners for many years to come.
Each of the bedrooms are also given its own character based on preference of the individual users, while maintaining a consistent floor finishing to maintain a consistent element across all spaces.”

“This project took on the principles of Hygge (pronounced as Hoo-gah in Danish), a unique concept of creating a warm cosy atmosphere. The design maintained a clean and minimal approach to provide multifunctional and flexible spaces such a recessed seating area for both dining and lounging.
Maintaining a consistent single tone laminate finishing across the entire house allowed for a light, clutter-free aesthetics. With smooth curves applied across the home, hard edges are avoided and allows for a touch of elegance and contemporary aesthetics.”
